QUALIFICATION OFFERED
Canada is a federation of 10 provinces and three territories. Under the Canadian Constitution, provincial governments have exclusive responsibility for all levels of education. There is no ministry or department of education at the federal level. The organisation and quality of higher education is controlled by the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC), coupled with the universities provincial government charter. Currently, there are 95 universities with the memberships in AUCC. As a result, a distinctive system of higher education has evolved in each province over the course of time. Programmes and their duration vary widely from institution to institution, and from province to province. It is always best to check with universities before applying.
Following are the degrees generally awarded by Canadian higher education institutes.
- Certificate Level [one year]
- Diploma Level [two years]
- Advances Diploma [three years]
- Fast track Diplomas or Advanced Diploma [1 or 2 years]
- Bachelor's Degree [four years of full-time study]

WHEN AND HOW TO APPLY
Canadian universities mostly invite and accept applications individually, which you can find and complete online on their websites. However, some provinces have a centralized applications system for universities, such as the Ontario Universities Application Center [OUAC]. you can apply to multiple universities by means of a single application through these platforms. Deadlines range from January to June. Many universities have multiple start date too. While September is usually the start date, many universities start accepting applications in January or even May. You must track the important dates of individual universities to avoid losing out on options.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
English Requirement
The minimum TOFEL score required by most universities is 84-90 [IBT] for both UG and PG courses
Most universities and colleges accept equivalent IELTS and PTE Academic scores.
VISA REQUIREMENTS
You will require a Canadian permit to study in Canada if your course lasts for 6 months or more. To apply you must meet the following requirements
- A written offer of acceptance from a recognised educational institution in Canada. If you wish to study in Quebec you must also furnish a Certificate of Acceptance, known as CAQ, from the government of Quebec.
- Two recent passport-size photographs with specifications of name and date of birth on the back.
- Evidence of scholarship or payment of course fees in the form of GIC/Savings or Education Loan.
- A duly completed and signed application form. You will have to pay a non-refundable visa application fee.
- Your passport or certificate of identity [valid through the period of intended stay].
- Evidence of funds for your maintenance throughout your stay
- You must be in good health and willing to complete a medical examination if necessary
